Green news in brief
One of Europe's top research centres is experimenting with generating electricity using kites. Scientists from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands have produced 10kW of electricity using a 10sq m kite, tethered to a generator. The experiment generated enough electricity to power 10 family homes. The researchers have plans to test a 50kW version called Laddermill, later building up to a proposed version with multiple kites, which they claim could generate 100 megawatts, enough energy for 100,000 homes.
