Update: Car lands in garage

A NURSERY school teacher has spoken of her shock after a car landed on top of her garage this morning (July 13).

Joyce Alimo and her husband Walter were woken at 1am by a "blood-curdling thud" outside their home in Warren Road, Orpington.

She said: "I rushed outside and saw a young man climbing out of the car.

"The car was pointing head down into my garage like an arrow."

A group of passers-by helped the car's other passenger out of the vehicle and lay him on the pavement.

Mrs Alimo believes the car may have hit her 8ft garden hedge which acted like a ramp, sending it flying into the garage.

She says the impact has written off her own car which was in the garage, and destroyed the rest of its contents.

Mrs Alimo said: "It was an accident waiting to happen - very often we hear shrieking cars late at night.

"But my main concern is that nobody was killed.

"There have to be some speed bumps put in this road because there are schools either side of it."

One of the occupants was taken to hospital but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

I hope these jokers are prosecuted for their mad behaviour. Rather than just joke around with their mates in their sub zero language a word of apology would be appropriate for the owners of the damaged property. It would have been the first message left here if they had any decency. I wonder how they are going to repay the damage?

I cannot believe some of the posts on here. Why are people almost congratulating the idiots that did this? Do they not understand the trouble this is causing the poor people who's garage and car has been ruined! Thank god they were not harmed as this could have been a lot more serious! I think these little boys need to grow up and stop trying to act like men as they clearly can't handle the responsibility!!

I totally agree Gemma. Every one who has posted here supporting these zero's should also be questioned by the police as they seem to be part of the crime.

Daisey, I would say that out of all your friends that have commented here you sound as though you have the most common sense, however, what is completely missing is concern over the people who's property they have damaged and the potential to hurt someone else.That is why everyone is annoyed. It's the total lack of respect for other people.

The boys Were stupid, and No on is agreeing tht what they did is right. No we dont need to Change our mates either.. We need to be there for eachother, and make sure they dont do it again! They are really sorry for the damage and for the presents, But mrs Alimos' presents arent actually as important as The crash, the boys or How Mrs ALimo is doing. i dont even agree with some comments on here, but people who actually care bout the boys arent "BIGGIN" them up or finking of them as heros and we're not wasting our time o the internet just Showing we care for EVERYONE involved in the crash.

Lets just hope he had insurance mot tax and a driving licence!!! and the car was his!!!If not then we have a right to judge!A close friend was killed because a silly little boy thought it was fun to drive around speeding and over the drink and drugs limit and you know what he said in court "I was trying to impress my mates"lets hope it don't happen to any of family and friends because this could have been the case and then Im dam sure you wouldn't take the **** of people expressing their feelings!people are upset because this is a family that they know and their home has been destroyed I'm sure you would be pretty upset if it were your mum or dads house.
Posted by: John, Bromley on 8:12pm Wed 16 Jul 08
The boy responsible for this has NO INSURANCE and NO DRIVING LICENCE. He is 16. He was witnessed trying to run from the scene leaving his friend for dead still trapped inside the squashed car. Random passers-by dragged the passenger out of the car and called for help.
Posted by: Roman, Chislehurst on 1:00pm Thu 17 Jul 08
I dont know the full story but what ever it is its obvious they wasnt driving within the law, these sort of accidents never happen when you drive within the constraints of the law.
That said some of the so called adults need to have a cold hard look at themselfs as all these people were doing was stating how grateful they was their friends were still alive. Is that not the behaviour of a normal caring human being anymore then ? Yes what they did was stupid, and ive no doubt these boys really regret what happened, but at the end of the day it was a garage that was destroyed, expensive what with the car being inside as well and no doubt caused some distress to the owners, but the car and garage contents can be replaced and the garage rebuilt, if these two boys had lost their lives in this accident,well tell me, how do you replace the loss of two young lives no matter what race colour or ethnic origin ? how do the parents rebuild their lives after losing a child ?
Because of course every single person who slagged this young kid off has never broken the speed limit, as a young driver or as an adult,no doubt you will all claim to never have done anything that was rash and foolish, as you are all so perfect. well ?

I would like to start by saying HE TRYED TO RUN OFF AND LEAVE HIS SO CALLED MATE FOR DEAD!!!(Mmmm nice friend!)sure you wouldn't be smiling if that were you!If you dont want us to judge then stop being Fools!I know your all young and you do things that you regret but come on what if it was the house and someone got killed?Mmmmm smiling then i think not. I hope he is punished by having to re-build and to pay for anything that was destroyed! and not by his parents!better get yourself a job sunny jim

and theres me wondering why the kids of today disrespect the elders of today !!!!!! Do try and keep up with the times eh, its internet chat, its what the kids use in their chat rooms/msn, try looking at theirschool work to see if they can actually read write and spell, you will find most are better than you as the education they get is of a higher standard than what you got ! give these kids the respect they deserve and you might find they stop wanting to kick your rude obnoxious head in !
and yes i have kids of all ages, none have ever been in trouble with the police or cause any problems, thats because they are bought up as decent human beings not spoke down to and generally blamed for their elders failings !

In response to Jess;

When I was at school we were taught to use a capital I. In case this was wrong I looked it up and found the following;

The personal pronoun 'I' is always written with a capital letter.

So maybe you need to go back to school and learn how to write properly. Also, there should be an apostrophe in "Im".

There may just be something in the fact that we don't believe children are very well educated.

In response to N, London;

You obviously had a very poor education and are barely literate. I won't even start to correct your mistakes. My comment about checking was meant to be tongue in cheek, but you clearly don't have the intelligence to see that.
I note that Jess took my comments with good grace, and you never know might actually have learnt something.
I did actually think that Jess had a valid point in;
Perhaps it has something to do with the way adults have brought them up

I couldn't agree more. There are far too many adults who have no parenting skills and yet still insist on bringing children into the world. I say you should need to pass a test before you're allowed to have children.

Please remember we were all teenagers once as well, but I hope that I had more respect for adults than most of the kids I see today.

By the way if you are a teenager you have just proved the point that teenagers are completely rude and obnoxious. If I was of a sensitive disposition I would ask for your comment to be removed as it could be deemed to be offensive. However, I am big enough to let it stay so that others can see your reaction.

I think we are forgetting point here!It not about spelling and grammer!This about a boy being very stupid (driving a car with no licence tax mot insurance etc)I do feel thou that as a mother myself I would would feel disgusted if a child of mine did something like this.We live in a world where children are having children.I do agree that most youths these days think the world owes them and they think they have the right to do as they please but then again there is nothing for them to do.When I was a child we had clubs to go to and they were open during school hoildays theres nothing for them nowdays so I guess their fun is doing what they want!!!Do you not think its time to change?I would actually be scared for my childen to play out!

Do i have any proof they have a better education than most of us ? Do I need it ? Most of the kids on here have put reasonable arguments across without the need for calling people chavs or pikeys, something the so called grown ups are not capable of doing. Of course the standard of education has gone up, 20 years ago you wouldnt even have seen a pc in a class room, and the mere fact you dont have the brains to actually realise this, well it shows they got a better education than you eh ! Even when the kids type in plain english, you cant argue the point with them, oh no they are to clever for you, all you ponces can do is pick up that they never pushed the shift key at the same time they typed the letter I, or never used a "'" in the word I'm, what great examples you all set these children ! How to be direspectful hateful and hurtful...........an
d you then wonder why they respond in kind....children take example from their elders, bought time some of them started to act like the mature responsible caring human beings they try and make out they are and " SET AN EXAMPLE "

Paul, you are obviously not very intelligent. Please don't assume we all received the poor level of education that you did. I was at school 20 years ago and I had just started my O' Level in Computer Studies, so yes we did have PC's in our school. I don't think it is disrespectful to point out people's mistakes. If you are never told that you are wrong how would you ever improve yourself. The comments I did make were made to a teenager who proudly states that they will be getting a grade B in English. I'm sorry, but 20 years ago if you didn't know when to capitalise you would not even be sitting a GCE exam, you would have been in the CSE classes. Unfortunately, because of Labour's tendency to try and make everyone mediocre, we are in a situation where teenagers are leaving school thinking that they know everything. I actually feel sorry for them. They are being pushed into University courses which most of them aren't capable of - this has been shown by the vast numbers of drop outs year on year. As a result of this most of them will be in some considerable debt by the time they actually start their working life. Degrees have been dumbed down also, so that more people are getting First Class degrees that they would never have got 20 years ago. Employers are going to be a lot more selective in future and I wouldn't be surprised to see graduates struggling to find work, unless they are prepared to accept McDonalds as a career choice.

If you notice, I did point out later that I thought Jess had a valid point. Presumably you were so incensed at my original "dig" that you didn't bother reading further down. This proves your ignorance!

The meer fact your arguments seem to always contain putting someone down or bigging youself up only goes to show what a poorly educated sad little moron you are ! Oh and when it comes to ignorance, you take first place !

Paul, you really are an idiot aren't you! I don't need to lie and I can assure you that, yes, we did have two PC's. I know that we were very lucky and that most other schools were not so fortunate. Before you start spouting off I suggest you check your facts. You are continually proving how stupid and ill-informed you are. Oh, and by the way I meant to say 30 years ago not 20. Now I must be a really big liar.

I am extremely confident that I am better educated than you if your literacy is anything to go by.

I don't see that I have "bigged myself up" or "put anyone down". Maybe you should reread my comments so that you actually understand what has been written, but I'm guessing you get confused with words of more than one syllable. When somebody states that they have used correct grammar, spelling and punctuation in their post I would have thought that they would have checked to make sure they had.
I don't know which school you went to but I would suggest that maybe you didn't attend very regularly. Maybe it's time for adult literacy classes for you.

If you would like to check whether I am a liar or not please take a look at at this link;

As I said before, it's usually a good idea to know what you are talking about before you post a comment. The fact that you don't is further evidence of your complete stupidity and ignorance.

I don't expect a response to this. I think it is about time you accepted defeat.
